Alt-Country Legends Robbie Fulks and Jon Langford at Prairie Center Oct. 11

Robbie Fulks and Jon Langford will perform at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 11 at 8:00 p.m.

Both artists call Chicago home, and are both pioneers and legends in the alt-country genre. With influences ranging from roots rock, bluegrass, rockabilly, honky-tonk, to alternative rock, folk rock, and sometimes punk - they create music that is sharp, intelligent and soulful. The artists will perform separate sets of striking originality and depth.

Fulks takes the dark humor that is found in both punk and country and creates a unique style that's poetic, introspective and deeply melodic. He has been said to have the soul of a country singer and the mind of a vaudevillian.

Welsh-born musician Jon Langford, former drummer for seminal punksters, The Mekons, now makes his mark in Chicago as a leader in fusing folk and country music into punk. He has been involved in countless side projects and collaborations including The Three Johns (with John Hyatt and John Brennan), the Waco Brothers and Pine Valley Cosmonauts.

Tickets for Robbie Fulks and Jon Langford, $34 ($32 seniors and students), can be ordered online at www.prairiecenter.org or by calling 847-895-3600. The Prairie Center is located at 201 Schaumburg Ct., Schaumburg, IL.
